Who we are and what this covers

MileageGuru is an independent motorcycle and scooter information website for Indian buyers. This Privacy Policy covers the public website at www.mileageguru.com, including accounts, rider reviews, contact messages, and bike suggestions.

“MileageGuru,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean the team operating the MileageGuru website. If you have a privacy question or request, use the Contact page and choose “Privacy or account data request.”

02

Information we handle

We receive information from you, from your use of the website, and from the services that help us operate it.

  • Account details: your name, email address, a password hash, account status, and account timestamps. We store a hash rather than your password in readable form.
  • Rider reviews: the bike reviewed, star rating, review headline and text, optional city and tag, the name on your account, and submission time. Your name and any city you provide can appear publicly with the review; your account email is not displayed with it.
  • Contact messages: your name, email, message topic, optional MileageGuru page URL, message text, and the date received. Authorized admins can see the message and add private follow-up notes.
  • Bike suggestions: the bike or model name, your name and email, and the optional reason you suggest it.
  • Search and technical information: search terms sent to return results, pages requested, request time, IP address and related server-log details used to operate and protect the website.
  • Browser preferences: saved bike IDs, recent searches, and whether the navigation sidebar is collapsed. These preferences are stored in your browser and are not synced to your MileageGuru account.
03

How we use information

  • To create and secure accounts and let members submit bike reviews.
  • To display reviews with the related bike and calculate review ratings.
  • To read and respond to contact messages, privacy requests, and suggested bikes.
  • To operate search, remember browser preferences, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and keep the website secure.
  • To understand general website use through analytics and improve our motorcycle and scooter coverage.
  • To use the email address you provide for account access and to reply to the message or suggestion you sent. The website does not currently send promotional newsletters.
04

Information that appears publicly

Rider reviews are shown on the relevant bike page. The public review can include the name on your account, optional city, rating, headline, review text, tag, and date. Your email address and password are not shown on the public page.

If you want to correct or remove a review, send a request through the Contact page. We will review it and handle it under applicable law and our record-keeping needs.

05

Cookies, analytics, and browser storage

Sign-in cookie

When you sign in, MileageGuru sets an essential browser cookie that carries your authentication token so the site can recognize your account. It is marked HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax, is secured in production, and is removed when you sign out. Clearing or blocking it signs you out or prevents sign-in.

Google Analytics

On the production website we load Google Analytics 4 to measure page visits and general site usage. Its default implementation can use first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_* to distinguish browsers and sessions. Google Analytics reports may include session statistics, browser and device information, and approximate location. Google documents its cookie behavior and data collection.

There is no analytics preference switch on the website today. You can block or clear cookies through your browser settings, or use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies may affect sign-in.

Local browser storage

Saved bikes, recent search history, and the sidebar setting are stored in your browser’s local storage. Clear this site’s stored data in your browser to remove those preferences. Search queries are still sent to MileageGuru when you request search results.

06

When information is shared

We do not sell personal information. We share or make information available only as needed to run the features described in this Policy, protect the site, or meet a legal obligation.

MileageGuru does not currently offer vehicle purchase enquiries, dealer lead forms, or vehicle checkout. We do not send account details, rider reviews, or contact-form messages to motorcycle dealers, manufacturers, lenders, insurers, or advertising partners as sales leads.

  • Media storage: editor-uploaded bike and brand media is stored in Amazon S3. Amazon may process the file and related technical information to store and deliver that media.
  • Google Analytics: site-usage measurements are sent to Google when Analytics runs on the production site. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Editorial writing assistance: authorized editors can use a Google Gemini API feature to draft or refine bike content. Prompts and draft text an editor submits to that feature are sent to Google to generate a response. Public account, review, contact, and bike-suggestion records are not automatically sent to it.
  • Embedded media: some editorial pages may loadYouTube, X/Twitter, and Instagram posts. When an embed loads or you interact with it, that provider may receive browser and usage information under its own privacy terms.
  • Legal and safety needs: we may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect people, or secure the service.

Our cloud and media providers may process information in locations where their systems operate. We handle any cross-border processing subject to applicable law.

MileageGuru does not currently provide vehicle checkout or payment processing through the website.

07

How long we keep information and how we protect it

We keep account information while the account is active; a public review while it remains published; and contact messages and bike suggestions for as long as needed to respond, maintain support records, protect the site, and meet legal obligations. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed, subject to required records and backups.

Passwords are stored as hashes. We use access controls for admin tools and safeguards appropriate to the service, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

08

Your choices and privacy requests

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may ask us to provide access to personal information associated with you, correct it, delete it, or handle another privacy request. You can also ask us to correct or remove a public review. We may need to verify that a request relates to your account before acting on it.

There is not currently a self-service account-deletion setting. Send an account closure or deletion request through the contact form and we will review it.

Use the Contact page and choose “Privacy or account data request.” Include the email address used for the account and identify the relevant review or page. Do not send your password, payment details, or government ID unless we explain a secure and necessary way to verify a request.

You can sign out to remove the sign-in cookie, and use your browser settings to clear cookies and local storage. These browser actions do not delete information already submitted to MileageGuru; send us a request for that.

09

Children’s information

MileageGuru is an information website for people researching motorcycles and scooters, not a service directed to children. Creating an account and posting a rider review is limited to people who are at least 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us through the privacy-request option and we will review it under applicable law.

10

Changes and contact

We may update this Policy as MileageGuru changes. The date at the top shows when this version took effect. Material changes will be highlighted on the website or communicated through the relevant account flow where appropriate.

For questions or privacy requests, visit mileageguru.com/contact and select “Privacy or account data request.”
